Oracle ACE Program FAQ

What is the Oracle ACE program?

The Oracle ACE program is a worldwide advocacy recognition program that rewards and promotes individuals for their personal contributions to the Oracle community. Many ACEs are technically proficient and share their knowledge and experiences through activities such as giving presentations, writing blog posts, books, articles, creating video tutorials, contributing to open-source projects, sharing their knowledge on social media, writing code, and answering questions in community forums like Cloud Customer Connect, Stack Overflow, and more. Oracle ACE membership is also offered to community leaders who are active in at least one of the following activities: organizing conferences or meetups, volunteering in leadership positions in User Groups, writing or producing newsletters, sharing Oracle Certification preparation knowledge, volunteering in an Oracle User Group, and more. The program also provides an ACE Apprentice level that helps people new to Oracle technology attain the technical skills, professional network, and leadership skills they need to become an ACE.

What are the Oracle ACE membership levels?

The program is comprised of four levels: Oracle ACE Apprentice, Oracle ACE Associate, Oracle ACE Pro, and Oracle ACE Director. The Oracle ACE level is determined by the candidate’s influence, depth, and amount of community contributions, demonstrated championing of Oracle products and solutions, and level of interaction with Oracle product management. Oracle ACE Directors are our top-tier community members who not only have a history of sharing their knowledge with the community, but who also participate in an ongoing dialog with Oracle to exchange ideas and provide product feedback. Oracle ACE Directors are also known to their peers as experts and thought leaders in their areas of focus.

What is an ACE Apprentice?

The Oracle ACE Apprentice is an entry level to the program. An ACE Apprentice can be anybody who is interested in learning and using Oracle technology and who wants to share their knowledge but doesn’t know how or where to begin. This includes but is not limited to: individuals working for a new Oracle customer who are now exposed to Oracle technology, individuals using our free cloud services for personal use, or individuals who have just finished or are finishing their education with a focus in technology sectors where Oracle is relevant.

Who can submit an Oracle ACE nomination?

Anyone can submit a nomination for an Oracle ACE Associate and Oracle ACE Pro candidate. Yes, that means that you can also nominate yourself for these levels! Nominations for Oracle ACE Directors need to be submitted by either current ACE members in good standing who do not have the same employer as the nominee, or Oracle employees. All ACE Director nominations need to include at least one reference from an Oracle product manager. The ACE Program team will review a submitted nomination to evaluate the candidate's public contributions, level of expertise, and length of time they’ve been sharing their knowledge in the community. Oracle reserves the right to decide if a nomination is accepted or rejected. We recommend that you fill out the application using as many knowledge-sharing examples as possible for the previous 12 to 18 months. For each community contribution, include a link so we can learn more about the candidate.

If you have Java contributions, please share examples that show:

  • Oracle OpenJDK or Oracle JDK usage in delivered content
  • Modern features from Java 17 to current release versions in delivered content
  • Content contributions to Dev.java (the official Java portal)
  • Leadership/organization of content in Java User Groups, Java conferences and/or Java meet-ups showcasing modern features from Java 17 to current releases

Who reviews the nominations?

Oracle ACE nominations are reviewed by the Oracle ACE Program team and relevant product managers, based on the candidate's area of expertise. Acceptance into the Program is at Oracle’s sole discretion, and Oracle reserves the right to prevent any individual who was previously accepted from continuing to participate if Oracle believes that the individual no longer meets the eligibility requirements.

How do I know that my nomination has been received by Oracle?

We email the nominator as soon as the nomination is submitted and again when the review has been completed.

How long does it take for my nomination to be reviewed?

We receive a large number of nominations for the program. As a result, the review process can take up to 10 weeks.

How will I know if the nominee has been accepted?

We email all accepted nominees and their nominators with the Oracle ACE program membership invitation details. We will email only the nominator if a nomination is declined.

What happens if my nomination is declined by Oracle?

The Oracle ACE Program team will email the nominator with suggestions on how the nominee can become a stronger candidate for the program. You can submit a new nomination nine months after a decline decision.
