I help Java developers and engineering teams build better software by bridging deep Java expertise with AI-driven engineering practices, education, and community.
I'm a Forward Deployed Engineer, Oracle ACE, educator, and international speaker with over 20 years of experience in software engineering. My work today focuses on helping organizations adopt AI-driven development practices — turning cutting-edge technology into practical, production-ready results for engineering teams, regardless of language or stack.
Throughout my career, I've built enterprise Java applications, led engineering initiatives, and helped teams embrace modern architectures, cloud-native development, and DevOps. I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science. Java remains at the core of my community and mentoring work, and much of what I teach.
Beyond my day-to-day work, I'm deeply committed to growing the developer ecosystem. As a leader at SouJava, organizer of initiatives such as The Developer's Conference (TDC) and DevConverge LATAM, and an active mentor and speaker, I help create spaces where developers can learn, connect, and accelerate their careers. Whether I'm delivering a conference talk, mentoring engineers, recording technical courses, or organizing community events, the goal is always the same: helping people become better software engineers.
Highlights:
- 20+ years in software engineering
- Master's degree in Computer Science
- Oracle ACE
- 60+ talks delivered (conferences, panels & meetups)
- 60+ community events and conferences organized
- 50+ interviews hosted, including the Asking a Java Champion series and Out of the Box Developer podcast
Many years of working with Java taught me how to build things well. Now I'm putting that same curiosity into AI. I don't think AI replaces developers — I think it augments the ones willing to try new tools and new approaches, without losing the Software Engineering fundamentals that make any of it work (book on this coming soon).
