With a strong foundation in Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native database architectures, Arun has spent years building highly available, secure, and performance-driven database systems that support mission-critical workloads.
Arun began his career in Enterprise Database Services, where he led and supported complex database platforms spanning Oracle Database, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB. Over the years, he has developed deep hands-on expertise in database architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, replication, performance tuning, and migrations, earning a reputation as a trusted technical leader for solving challenging data platform problems at scale.
As his career evolved, Arun expanded his focus into cloud architecture and platform engineering, playing a key role in driving enterprise cloud adoption. As part of a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), he has led initiatives across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Azure, and AWS, with particular emphasis on database platforms, cloud governance, resiliency patterns, and operational excellence. His work bridges traditional enterprise databases with modern cloud-native architectures, enabling organizations to migrate, optimize, and operate databases efficiently in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Arun is widely recognized for his expertise in MySQL and Oracle technologies. He is a co-author of “Mastering MySQL Administration”, a comprehensive reference covering MySQL architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, security, and performance, and “Mastering PostgreSQL Administration,” which includes in-depth guidance on PostgreSQL operations and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration strategies. He has also served as a technical reviewer for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) GoldenGate book, contributing real-world expertise on replication, migration, and multi-cloud data movement.
Beyond his day-to-day architecture work, Arun is an international speaker and community contributor, presenting at industry events such as Oracle OpenWorld, MySQL & HeatWave Summit, Oracle User Groups, and PostgreSQL meetups.
